White tattoo ink
Ironically, white tattoo ink works best on light-skinned individuals
(the paler, the better). Dark-skinned people who want a “photo
negative” effect will be sorely disappointed because the ink sits
under the layer of skin that’s tinted with the natural skin color.
According to many online reviews, many artists won’t even bother
with white tattoo ink. Working with that color has proven to be very
difficult at best (it’s hard for artists to see what they’re
doing) and many parlors will advise against it.
For those who can’t be dissuaded by online reviews, white tattoo
ink shows up best on the lightest parts of the body (inside of the wrists
are popular options). A healed, white tattoo can look like a scar or
discoloration if the artist isn’t very skilled.
